Truman State women beat Southwest Baptist in swimming, men lose

The Truman State University women beat Southwest Baptist 189-73 in a swimming dual meet Friday at Pershing Natatorium in Kirksville, and the Truman State men lost 169-93.

The Truman State women won 12 of 14 events, including both relays. Marianne Dean, of Truman State, won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:11.94 and the 500 freestyle in 5:28.16, according to the official results. Londyn Moore, of Truman State, won the 200 freestyle in 2:00.84 and the 100 freestyle in 55.20. Alex Powers, of Truman State, won the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.88 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:33.13.

Other Truman State winners were Emerson Hicks in the 200 butterfly in 2:20.34, Charlotte Holcomb in the 50 freestyle in 25.44, Luca Dessau in the 100 butterfly in 59.52 and Evelyn Arnold in the 200 individual medley in 2:18.85.

The Truman State men won four of 14 events. Orin Meyer, of Truman State, won the 1,000 freestyle in 10:08.08 and the 500 freestyle in 4:53.90. Jacob Wolf, of Truman State, won the 100 backstroke in 53.08 and the 200 backstroke in 1:58.48.

The Truman State women are 2-0, and the men are 0-2.

Both Truman State teams swim at 3 p.m. Oct. 16 at William Jewell in Liberty.
