Brandon James Conger, of Macon, is charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a class A misdemeanor.
According to the information, Conger on or about Aug. 26 knowingly carried an unloaded firearm onto the premises of Macon R-1 Schools.
Cpl. Kevin Noyes of the Macon County Sheriff's Office wrote that school staff saw a holstered firearm on Conger's right side when he entered the elementary building Aug. 25 to pick up a child. Noyes wrote that video from the front entrance showed the holstered firearm while Conger was inside.
The information charges that the firearm was unloaded. Noyes wrote that the loaded or unloaded status of the firearm remains unverified.
Noyes wrote that Conger told him he carries a firearm daily for work and forgot it was on him.
Prosecuting Attorney Joshua Meisner signed the information. A summons was issued.
Conger is set for an initial appearance at 9 a.m. Oct. 1 in Macon, according to the court docket.
A criminal charge is an accusation. Conger is presumed innocent.
