A Callao man faces felony and misdemeanor drug charges stemming from an April traffic stop in Macon County.
Robert Conger, 46, of Callao, is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, and one count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a class D misdemeanor. The Macon County Prosecuting Attorney’s office filed the charges June 25 in Macon County Circuit Court, in case 26MA-CR00190.
According to the complaint, Conger possessed methamphetamine and a red metal container that the state alleges was drug paraphernalia.
Macon County Deputy Josh Burmeister wrote wrote in the probable cause statement he stopped a vehicle that was not displaying license plates and, after receiving consent to search, found a bag containing a red metal container with a white powder-like residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Conger claimed the bag was his, according to the PC statement. A search of Conger turned up a plastic baggie holding about 0.7 grams of a crystal substance in his sock, which also field-tested positive for methamphetamine, the statement says. Conger was released pending further investigation.
The court set bond at $20,000, cash only.
A criminal charge is an allegation. Conger is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
