Route HH in Macon County was closed in both directions by flooding Thursday afternoon, with the county under a National Weather Service flood watch until 1 a.m. Friday.
The road has been closed since 9:14 a.m. Thursday, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation's Traveler Information Map, which still listed it closed at 1:53 p.m. It was the only flood closure the map listed in the county.
The weather service office in Pleasant Hill added Macon County to the watch at 9:16 a.m. Thursday, citing overnight rain and more expected Thursday afternoon and evening. "Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations," the weather service said in the watch.
The weather service forecast for Macon, updated at 1:27 p.m., calls for three-quarters of an inch to 1 inch of rain Thursday afternoon and another 1 to 2 inches Thursday night, with storms ending before 4 a.m. Friday. Friday and Saturday are forecast to be sunny.
A volunteer observer 7.3 miles north of Callao reported 2.72 inches of rain in the 24 hours ending at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, according to the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network.
Macon Electric Cooperative's outage map showed no members without power at 1:51 p.m. A Missouri State Emergency Management Agency brief had listed 460 outages for the co-op, which serves all or parts of nine counties, at 8:08 a.m. The co-op did not answer emailed questions about the cause by deadline.
Inside Macon, the Macon Municipal Utilities outage map showed no outages at 1:54 p.m.
