3 hurt in U.S. 36 crash west of New Cambria

Three people were injured, two seriously, when a Marceline driver failed to yield on U.S. 36 west of New Cambria on Sunday.

The crash happened at 2:16 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, about 4 miles west of New Cambria in Macon County, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

A northbound 2022 Ford Explorer driven by an 86-year-old Marceline man failed to yield to an eastbound 2014 Subaru Outback driven by a 49-year-old Pittsburgh woman, the report says. The Subaru struck the Explorer in the side.

An 83-year-old Marceline woman who was a passenger in the Explorer had serious injuries. Life Flight Eagle took her to University Hospital in Columbia.

The Pittsburgh woman, who was driving the Subaru, also had serious injuries. MU-4 took her to University Hospital in Columbia.

The Marceline man, who was driving the Explorer, had moderate injuries. Linn County Ambulance took him to University Hospital in Columbia.

The report lists safety devices in use for all three. Both vehicles had total damage. Still Towing of Macon towed the Explorer and the Subaru from the scene.

Cpl. Fuller of the patrol investigated. Master Sgt. Johnson of the patrol, the Macon County Sheriff's Office, the New Cambria Fire Department, the Macon County Rescue Squad, and Macon County Ambulance assisted, according to the report.
